February has been a bit of a hit for new slots. A new Playtech developed Wonder Woman slot offered big money prizes, and Blueprint Gaming’s Lightning Strike MegaWays became the latest in a long list of releases to feature BTG’s MegaWays gaming engine. Sports fans could finally get to grips with Playtech’s AP McCoy: Sporting Legends and there was no Coolio present in Novomatic/Greentube’s Gangster Paradise. What about March, though? What will it bring?
As with any month, March promises a flurry of new slot games for players at online casino sites. Before February has even ended, the internet’s leading casino software providers are showcasing their next batch of games, all of which are set to launch in March. There are some promising titles, as well as the usual generic riff-raff. So, what can you and other online casino players expect to find debuting at your favourite casino sites in March?
A Look at Some of the Slots:
Danger – High Voltage 2: The Final Countdown
The first Danger – High Voltage slot introduced us to a little-known rock band. The slot proved to be something of a success for Big Time Gaming (BTG), even if it didn’t quite hit the heights and expectations of everyone. Now, the developers are following it up with the launch of a sequel. Danger – High Voltage 2: The Final Countdown promises to be bigger and grander than its predecessor, with 6 reels and 4,096 paylines of action. There is also a non-progressive jackpot worth several hundred thousand coins, and a host of features. If you enjoyed the original, you can expect to find cloning reels and wilds in this game, as well as free spins, 2×2 roaming multipliers, and prizes worth 888x a stake.
Glory and Britannia
Playtech’s first release of March is set to be the part fantasy, part historical-themed Glory and Britannia slot. This 5-reel, 243 ways to win release will offer wagers from 30p upwards and features fictional and historical characters showcasing the glory of Britain. Expect Robin Hood, King Arthur, crusading knights and more to pop up on the reels, with the RTP (return to player) rate set to 95.94%. Glory and Britannia will also feature wilds on the three central reels, and scatters. The latter can trigger free spin bonuses with up to 15 spins played out on an extended 1,024 ways to win reel set. A total of seven additional goodies can be “bought” via side-bets, too, so there’s lots of action available in this soon to be released game.
Over to RTG (Real Time Gaming) now, and their latest release. Fire Dragon is a kung-fu slot which will debut as US-friendly offshore casinos next month. Played over 5 reels and 20 paylines, pretty much everything about this lacklustre release is standard and beige, save for the epic jackpot it carries. Like most RTG slots, there is a progressive prize, which can be won at random here. The game is set to debut with a few features, too, including wilds and scatters. The latter can dish out 10 free spins, and the bonus can be re-triggered, but that is about where it ends in this average new game from RTG. Don’t expect too many to be queuing up to play it.
Amatic Industries’ Party Night looks a lot more promising. This 5-reel, 243-line slot is based on a good old-fashioned night out. In fact, it has a lot in common with Playtech’s slot of a similar name. Wagers aren’t predicted to be cheap in this release (a minimum bet of £1 are being mooted), but the £250,000 non-progressive jackpot should add a bit of a smile to players’ faces. Keep your eyes peeled for wilds, which can double the value of all wins in which they appear. There are also glitter balls, which can trigger free spins. The features in this new upcoming release are basic, but there is excitement to be had.
1×2 Gaming are offering something a touch more original in March. Primed for a release somewhere in the middle of the month, the Rainbow 3×3 slot brings the very best that Irish luck slots have to offer, albeit in a strange format offering 3 sets of 3-reels, with 9 paylines spanning them. The game can be played for as little as 9p a game (bets are capped at £45), but the RTP (return to player) rate of 95% is a touch disappointing. Special features are set to be few and far between in this new release. No wilds, scatters, free spins or instant win features are present. There are better Irish luck slots to be played, but this one does at least offer originality.
Rockabilly Wolves won’t be playable until the end of March. This game is the latest collaboration between Microgaming, and the fledgeling Just for the Win software provider. A bizarre theme and basic gameplay seem to be the basis for this release, which features 20 lines over 5 reels, and a non-progressive prize worth 120,000 coins. However, as is common with these types of joint-venture games, there are special features, which can make a difference. Wilds can replace any other symbols, scatters can trigger re-spins and free spins, and there are sticky wilds on the third reel of the bonus round. Those substitute symbols can also double the value of any winning combos they happen to play a part in.
Temple of Nudges
One of the games players will be able to find earlier in March is Net Entertainment’s Temple of Nudges. This 243 ways to win slot has an RTP rate of 96%, cheap stakes costing just 25p a game, and a non-progressive jackpot worth around 90x your bet. A video preview of the new game is already available on YouTube, and that highlights some of the more impressive features that the slot has to offer. Nudges obviously play an important part. These can be used following wins, and with an avalanche/cascading reels engine in play, they can be rather handy. Symbols appear super stacked on the reels, and re-spins can lock some of those symbols into place, offering up ample ways to land tasty cash prizes in this Aztec temple-themed slot.
The Grand is a relatively short title for a rather bizarre release. There is no specific launch date right now for this new Quickspin release, save for the fact that it will debut in March. The Grand promises 6 reels and a baffling 214 lines, but wagers are set to be as cheap as chips at just 10p a turn. The action here really does revolve around the reel structure, which features two reels of 3 symbols, 2 reels of 4 symbols, and a final pair of reels hosting 5 symbols. Players can find a synched reels engine in play in this release. Add to that the free spins, random wilds, and reel nudges that are present and players are looking at something special from Quickspin this March.
Another month goes by, and we have another Viking-themed slot debuting in March. This time it is Iron Dog Studios doing the honours. With so many Norse slots out there, developers have had to get clever to produce something original, which stands out. This 5-reel title offers between 1,024 and 3,125 lines at various points of gameplay, and players can expect to spin those reels for as little as 20p a game. The “wild” part of the title is the clue here, as the slot features sticky wilds, expanding wilds, and standard wilds. Free spins can see these wilds come to prominence and this is where the number of paylines extends, too. Throw in a few multipliers to boot, and this looks like a tasty enough release despite the competition.
Village People: Macho Moves
Very little is known about this final release. Thus far, we only know that it will be unveiled in March and that the theme of this 6-reel, Microgaming developed slot is set to be the Village People. Officially known as Village People: Macho Moves slot, we can only imagine that the new game will be officially branded, contain a plethora of cracking hits from the band, and dish up the usual array of Microgaming features, such as free spins wilds, and randomly triggered goodies. It could go on to be the next big musical slot hit, rivalling NetEnt’s range of similarly themed games. It may not. Either way, the more prospect of playing this March release is more tempting than BTG’s High Voltage sequel.
The Year Ahead
Music-themed slots bookend our list, but there are plenty of other top (and not so top) titles thrown in there for you to look forward too in March. You’ll barely have a chance to get to grips with them before April’s hottest games are unveiled. NetEnt’s Wild Worlds, NextGen Gaming’s King Arthur, Microgaming’s Banana Odyssey, and Pragmatic Play’s Egyptian Fortunes are just a few of the potential April releases awaiting you, but they are stories for another day.
