With aims of marking and celebrating their 15-year-long partnership, Microgaming and Square Enix renew their agreement and surprise fans with a new Lara Croft® product. The third branded online slot game alongside its official title will be revealed at this year’s ICE Totally Gaming.
The Lara Croft® Project:
The partnership of Casino Software giant Microgaming and Square Enix started 15 years ago when the two companies agreed on the development of the first Lara Croft® slot game. The 2004 Lara Croft: Tomb Raider™ was the first ever licensed and branded slot game developed in the iGaming industry, created by Microgaming.
Four years later, following the huge success and immense popularity of the game, Microgaming developed a sequel, Tomb Raider: Secret of the Sword™. The second collaboration of the two companies took players on an exhilarating journey to track down the missing fragments of the legendary sword.
Now, after 11 years, the two giants renew their agreement and surprise the Tomb Raider fans with another sequel. The new game, whose title is still a secret, will feature the fearless heroine, and will once again take players on a new quest to scout the ancient trails and unearth rewarding discoveries.
There’s another news here as well: the game will be exclusively developed for Microgaming by Triple Edge Studios, which is the innovative, high-quality software developing studio creating content for Microgaming. Triple Edge Studios is a young player in the industry, but a promising one, since the games they have developed for Microgaming resulted in instant success and appreciation by slot players.
Lara Croft is an iconic name in both the gaming and film industry. The first game ever was released in 1996 and has made Lara Croft the best-selling game heroine. The icon name has been transcended into films and merchandise after that, and as of 2004, in slot games through the development partnership with Microgaming. The new Lara Croft quest will soon join Microgaming’s award-winning portfolio and is expected to be even more successful than its antecedents.
Microgaming and Square Enix’s Statements:
Andrew Clucas, Microgaming’s Chief Operating Officer stated that they’re super excited to announce the renewal of the partnership with Square Enix saying that 2019 marks the 15th anniversary with the brand and their plan is to celebrate the milestone with the big reveal on the show-stopping stand at ICE.
Square Enix’s Vice President of Licensing Janet Swallow confirmed the news, saying they look forward to continuing working with Microgaming and develop another online slot game that will turn into success, following the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider™ in 2004 and Tomb Raider: Secret of the Sword™ in 2008. The VP of Licensing said they’re looking forward to the big reveal and they’re excited to see the new action-packed adventure launch.
